Farrington vs. Moanalua @ MHS stadium, October 7, 2011

Ooops! Forgot to post on the last game of the regular season.  Our Governors took on Moanalua's Menehunes in the final game of the regular season on a cool Friday evening.  It was a back and forth evening of heart-stopping smash mouth football, and the final five minutes were a true give and take game of true football hearts on the field...both sides!

What was most impressive of this last game was the sportsmanship displayed.  Moanalua knew they were in the post season, they had nothing to lose and everything to gain.  Our Farrington boys and gal were fighting to make this the first undefeated season in recent memory.  When it was all said and done, I saw MHS and FHS players hugging each other, giving hearty handshakes like warriors after battle, and the coaches congratulating each other before MHS enjoyed their Seniors Night on the field while our football teams headed home.

The lesson that evening was from one of the boys' helmets; Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me".  I told them to be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR on the context of that passage.  Paul prefaces it by saying he had days when he was on top of the world; finances, status, popularity.  He also had days when he ate dirt.  Nothing.  Nada.  But "I can do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST, who strengthens me."  Can you do this?  This is the test of the true believer.

It was a favorable evening, and we did in deed, finish the 2011 OIA Red East season undefeated.  CONGRATULATIONS FHS Varsity football team!

FINAL SCORE: FHS 28, Moanalua 24.  TYJ!
